This post isn’t my typical instructional type of article. It’s a warning to self-quarantine now and why right now. I am not the conspiracy type of prepper. I am not an alarmist. I do, however, feel we’re not being told the entire truth. I’m also going to share what I am doing to self-quarantine against COVID-19 and why.
Self-Quarantine Now – Your Life May Depend On It
Have infections already peaked? Let me ask you a question:
If the total deaths per day are expected to peak in the middle of April, less than two weeks away, when do/did they become infected with COVID-19?
Assuming it takes two to fourteen days for symptoms to appear [Source: Johns Hopkins Medicine] and about one week to become severely ill after getting symptoms [Source: The Conversation], WE’RE WELL INTO THE PEAK INFECTION PERIOD!
PPE May Not Be Enough
I’ve been driving a tractor-trailer in Detroit during this entire Coronvirus crises – up until now. A critical occupation and all that. With pickups and deliveries, I generally have around fifteen stops a day. Almost none of those businesses are “critical” in my opinion but that’s for another discussion.
I was going through over twenty pair of nitrile gloves and over two small bottles of hand sanitizer each day. I was keeping my distance and still felt exposed. While many businesses were taking precautions, most were not. Let me tell you something, I’ve lived in some very hostile parts of the world in very troubling times and I have never felt stress on this level.
Short of walking around in a chemical/biological suit, the risk remains high when everyone around you isn’t taking things seriously.
What I’m Doing To Self-Quarantine
Beginning tomorrow night, our family will begin to self-quarantine at home for at least two weeks. My wife hasn’t worked in several weeks and yesterday I took a leave of absence (without pay) from mine.
My oldest daughter, her husband and her two youngest children (13 & 18) will quarantine with us. Her oldest son will stay with his girlfriend during our in-home quarantine.
Taking precautions. As far as we know right now, none of us is COVID-19 positive. At least we’re not showing symptoms. Other than my local truck driving job in Detriot, everyone was pretty much already sheltering in place.
Everyone has until Sunday (Apr. 5th) to get their affairs in order. We already have enough food, medicine and supplies to last for months. After tomorrow, anyone that leaves this house a single time will not get back in. It’s that serious. I just hope I didn’t wait too long to make this decision.
Are We Being Lied To? A Dangerous Game
I’m certainly not surprised if the government is holding back, at this point we expect that. We are shown the projections, which are distorted, of deaths from COVID-19.
Why are they not screaming from the rooftops, “Get inside, you’re being infected right now“? My theory is simple – they need “critical employees” to continue working. They need the economy, which is already crashing, to stay in motion as much as possible.
It’s a dangerous game. People feel they still have time. “I’ll stay inside when it starts getting really bad“. Guess what? That’s too late. Self-quarantine now if it is at all possible. Especially if you or anyone in your home is high risk – that is exactly the case in my home.
Think and Decide – Not Obey
I want to keep this post short and avoid pointing fingers or trying to scare anyone. Just please consider the timeline and make an informative decision.
Again, if we peak in the number of deaths from COVID-19 within the next two or three weeks, when would those dieing then have become infected? Understand? That’s what you’re not hearing on the White House Briefings. That’s what you’re not seeing in the news. It’s so obvious yet no one seems to be giving it a moment’s thought.
Be safe. Be prepared.
